Manchester has a new festival queen, and she is bringing her stethoscope with her. Dr Melissa Flinch, who wore the sash Miss Courierjamaica.com, was crowned Miss Manchester Festival Queen 2026, in a coronation that saw her dominate the night's sectional honours. Of the six awards, Flinch claimed four: Most Congenial, Most Active in the Community, Most Culturally Aware, and Most Popular on Social Media, a sweep that reflected not just her presence on stage, but the depth of her connection to the people of Manchester long before she was crowned. -

The Grammys add 5 new categories

The Recording Academy has tweaked some of its rules for the 2026 Grammy Awards, including the addition of five new categories.
The academy on Tuesday announced the addition of a Best Asian Pop Music performance category — celebrating releases across K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and beyond — awarded to the performer. -
Attorney Shanique Sommerville crowned Miss Westmoreland Festival Queen 2026
For the second time in as many years, an attorney will represent the parish of Westmoreland in the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition.
This comes as the 28-year-old Shanique Sommerville from the community of Peggy Barry in Grange Hill, was chosen as the parish's representative following a coronation showcase held at the Sean Lavery Faith Hall in Savanna-la-Mar on Sunday. -
